What the Innovation Agency does

The Innovation Agency is the Technology Innovation Office (NIT) of the Federal Rural University of Rio de Janeiro. It was established in 2008 by CONSU Deliberation 31/2008 and its mission is to implement and manage UFRRJ's Institutional Innovation Policy (CONSU Deliberation 185/2024).

Mission

Support scientific, technological and innovation development at the university, acting as a bridge between the academic community and the productive sector, government, and society.

How we operate

The Agency is organized in five thematic divisions under the Executive Board:

  • Intellectual Property and Technology Transfer — protection of creations, INPI filing, licensing and R&D partnerships
  • Entrepreneurship and Innovation Environments — support to junior enterprises, Enactus Rural and INEAGRO
  • Communication and IP Culture Outreach — institutional communication and community awareness
  • Technical and Economic Feasibility Studies — assessment of the potential of UFRRJ-developed technologies
  • Social Innovation Hub — engagement with direct social impact in communities

For whom

  • Researchers and students — protection of creations, IP guidance, support to entrepreneurial initiatives
  • Companies — technology licensing, R&D partnerships and access to the Technology Showcase
  • Public management and funding — interface with CAPES, CNPq, FAPERJ, FINEP and EMBRAPII
