Junior enterprises at UFRRJ
A Junior Enterprise (JE) is a non-profit civil association, formed and managed exclusively by undergraduate students, that provides services and develops projects for real clients — under academic supervision.
Legal basis
Law 13.267/2016 governs the creation and organization of associations called junior enterprises in Brazil.
Why they exist
- Apply undergraduate knowledge to real projects
- Train entrepreneurs and managers
- Bring the university closer to the market
- Integrate the Brazilian entrepreneurship ecosystem (Brasil Júnior)
What they can do
- Consultancy in their field of study
- Paid extension projects
- Events, training, capacity building
- Simple applied research
What they CANNOT do
- Replace work of professionals certified to perform exclusive activities
- Operate outside the field of study of the student members
- Distribute profits among members (it is non-profit)
How to start a JE at UFRRJ
- Mobilize a group of students from the same field (recommended minimum: 8)
- Identify advisor faculty willing to support
- Talk to the Agency —
nitrural@ufrrj.br— to align with institutional norms - Bylaws and CNPJ — registration as a civil association
- Institutional recognition by UFRRJ
- Affiliation with MEJ (Junior Enterprise Movement) — optional but recommended
